Chronicles of a Natural Apostolic: DO NOT cut your hair, I repeat, PLEASE don't do it

Sometimes I tend to forget the many struggles I encountered when I was transitioning...

I remember being extremely discouraged and upset over my hair. I wanted my relaxer to grow out, I wanted natural hair, but all the while my hair was breaking and thinning. It seemed impossible that I would ever achieve the thick, healthy locs that I saw so many other naturals wearing. There were people close to me that went natural too, but none of them did a full transition without big chopping or trimming their hair. But every time I so much as thought to pick up the scissors it was as it something within me was screaming... Kendra please, DO NOT cut your hair, I repeat PLEASE don't do it!

First of all, it is a MYTH that your hair will not grow if you choose not to cut it or trim it. I am a living witness along with many other women. I did not cut my hair, I did not trim my hair, I left it alone and took care of it. Yes my hair went through a stage where it was very dry. Yes my hair went through a stage where it was breaking and thinning. Yes my hair went through a stage where I never thought it would be healthy again. But the storm is always worst before it is over. Look at my hair now. That is why, I am asking you, DO NOT cut your hair, I repeat PLEASE don't do it!

We have to learn to look at the BIGGER picture. If you are doing it just to do it, this message isn't for you. But if you are a

ONE GOD,
Apostolic,
Pentecostal,
Holy Ghost Filled,
Tongue Talker,
Baptized in Jesus Name,
Living Holy and Separated from the World,

You cannot AFFORD to cut your hair. Is it worth losing the power of angels? Is it worth losing authority in prayer? Is it worth losing your identity as an apostolic woman? We are known for uncut hair because it is what the bible teaches. My sister in love Courtney told me a story about a lady in her church,

Her son was trying so hard Sunday after Sunday to get the Holy Ghost. For some reason he could not pray through. Finally one Sunday she took her hair and laid it on her son. She began to remind God of the power that she had because her hair was uncut, and you know what happened almost instantly? Her son received the Holy Ghost!!!
What is that was your son? Does God come on the scene immediately for you? Do you want him to?

I know personally of apostolic women who gave in and cut their hair. As a result, they were miserable, depressed and regreted ever going it. You undergo a major spiritual catastrophe by cutting your hair. You will not receive the same results in prayer. You will not have the same anointing you once possessed. Uncut hair is serious business. OH GOD give us revelation and understanding!
Sister, DO NOT cut your hair, I repeat PLEASE don't do it!

Consider this: why is it that when a woman backslides, the first thing she does is cut her hair?? The devil knows that we carry the glory of God upon our uncut hair. The devil knows that there is POWER in our hair. We have a distinct anointing when we have uncut hair. I remember the first time I walked into a Pentecostal church where the ladies had uncut hair, you could FEEL the difference in anointing on the women! There was something about them that was so beautiful, holy and radiant. They almost looked like angels to me (that is no exaggeration).

I remember my immediate thought was that I wanted to be like them. And now I am like them! I wouldn't trade it for the world and neither should you.

Its time to bring EVERY thought into captivity! God touch our minds and show us truth. We need revelation in these last days.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; "

 (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

Getting it in our hearts..

There is nothing that washing your hair and just going. Letting it blow in the wind. Letting it relax from being pulled back. I just LOVE the texture my hair is!
To some it might look like a lions mane but to me it looks so beautiful!
This confidence didn't come overnight though. It came from understanding the power that is behind my hair!

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." (Proverbs 3:13)

We have clout with God. We have favor with God. We have the opportunity at an experience with God that many women will never get to have simply through our obedience. We can touch God in a powerful way!

But understanding the true power in our hair goes beyond obedience.
It goes beyond not cutting, trimming, dying or altering it.
It goes beyond following what the pastor says about it.
And yes girls it goes beyond the biggest, curliest, up-do you can ever put together.
It goes beyond having the perfect headband.
It goes beyond all of that!!

It has to get in our hearts. It has to be a revelation!

"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised." (Proverbs 31:30)

Fearing the Lord is not a phase to indicate how afraid we are of God. The more appropriate synonym would be reverence! A woman who has reverence for the Lord... A woman who has adoration for the Lord... A woman who has respect for the Lord... A woman who shows honor toward the Lord.. THAT woman shall be blessed!

If we fear the Lord, we will obey His commandments as a cheerful disciple. Paul said, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1) We follow our pastor and leadership because they follow Christ. We have faith in the man of God because He is accountable for our soul! What did Paul have to say to the women of the church of Corinth? He gave a simple commandment for them to have uncut hair. What did Paul have to say to those who disagreed? He stated that if any man seemed to be contentious that there was no such custom in any of the churches of God. Hence, we understand that this was a commandment for ALL of the churches of the living God!

Yet, just as I'm sure many women back then did, we tend to stop here. We say to ourselves that since our pastor told us and He said that God told us then we just do it. But we go day in and day out doing it out of habit and not out of revelation. And in essence, we are not doing it to Gods glory. This is how woman can easily become caught up in vanity and the beauty contest attitude. She becomes more concerned with the look of her hair. She is soon consumed in vanity and the devil has robbed her of ever truly understanding the reason WHY the man of God implemented this ordinance by way of God Himself!!

Let us change our thinking. Instead of thinking how you're going to "do" you hair, think about what you can do BECAUSE of your hair! We can get much accomplished in the kingdom of God! We have the power of angels!! We have the ability to touch God in prayer!! We have the ability to move heaven, to shake up our churches, to pray things into existence, to contend with God on behalf of our pastor, our church, our families and loved ones! We have the ability to store up memorial prayers with God! Hey it could be YOUR prayer God is waiting on to send revival to your city!

So ladies, let us grow in knowledge, faith, understanding and wisdom!!!
We have MUCH to accomplish!

Intro and Hairstyle #1, Bantu Knots with Braids

To all my black Apostolic ladies! I want YOU to know that you can have beautiful, healthy and long hair also! There is no need for us to be havin super short hair that is unhealthy. Especially if our glory really means something to us. SO here it is, I'm going to help you grow you hair. Yes I am going to take on the challenge of **prayerfully** helping black apostolic laides all around the world! Because UNCUT hair is beautiful and it doesn't have to be damaged, falling out and all of that madness!! So here are some beginning steps:

If you have relaxed hair, it is time to grow your relaxer out TODAY! I cannot tell you enough how bad and terrible relaxers are for black hair. Not only does it break your hair off, but it also releases chemicals into your blood stream! Need I say more? If you want healthy hair, this has GOT to be step number one!! So today is the day for you to transition. (which means, doing styles that take you from relaxed the natural without sissors) We don't believe in the "big chop", little chop, tiny chop, NO chop! lol. Don't touch that hair with those sissors!!

  • MOISTURIZE YOUR ENDS DAILY!! Hair doesn't grow from the ends, it grows from the roots right?? Yes, but hair retention comes from how much hair you can retain. So a lot of the times we think our hair isn't growing, but it is! We just are not taking care of the ends of our hair, so inevitably, it always looks short!

  • Heat = Dangerous! Okay I know curls are the thing to do in Pentecost ladies, but come on. Not one more day can your hair afford to be fried at the expense of looking cute. Especially when there are other ways to achieve the same styles with without heat!! For example, you can do bantu knots for curls! Super simple and you achieve beautiful, bouncy curls!! There are twist outs if you're more into wavey curls... there are braid outs.. etc, etc!!

  • Protect your hair! We need to believe in protective styling!!!!!  (Protective styling is the type of styling that prevents you from excess combing, pulling, touching, etc your hair)

So here it is, your FIRST tutorial from me...

Need a church style when church is starting in about 3 hours???
