Crazy. My former roommate, Lyndsy (pictured in the last blog entry) and a few of her friends have been inspired by "30 things Thursday." Here's an email that she sent me recently:
Lyndsy: I was talking with my two friends out here and we were contemplating what we wanted to do for lent this year. We came up with no retail purchases and taking part in 10 things Tuesdays. The overall goal is simplicity. You were our motivation. We are going to start a facebook group for it today and post every week what we are getting rid of as accountability. One is in Indiana and the other is in Colorado. All three of us are getting married and will be moving this spring so it comes at a good time.
This is great. Maybe we'll start a revolution.

Crafting Reusable Shopping bags & Free Giveaway
So since I've started "thirty things Thursday" I've had the opportunity to be stuck with the dilemma of what to do with all these t-shirts I have laying around. "To give away, or not to give away..." that is the question. And we all know what I do when I can't answer that question.... I CRAFT!!!!
So, I've solved a two fold delimma- I needed a reusable shopping bags for my groceries (for convienience, hipness, and comfort) and I needed to "keep" my t-shirts' memories alive. So I made shopping bags out of the t-shirts.
I brought one over to Lyndsy and Jonathan's super bowl Sunday as a gift for their new "greener" lifestyle. If you would like one of these bags for yourself, let me know. Great news!!! How to...
Here is my "how to" segment.
This was recently left in one of my comments
"It is here where I need a bit of advice if you don't mind. I can't ever seem to get the hair to sleek back as perfectly as yours looks in the pics. What is your secret...if you don't mind sharing. I use the spray bottle and the comb and I have used the detangle spray on occasion. Both of my girls have really thick hair. I would love any words of wisdom you might be able/willing to offer." This coupled with the same question from another friend.
My answer, a dripping wet head and max hold hair gel and a FINE toothed comb. If it is not fine, you can't get their hair as tight. Also, you can't be afraid of pulling their heads around a little bit. My kids have tough old heads. I am afraid I would die if they had tender heads.
I am seriously NOT kidding when I say wet hair. If I had my way, I would wash my girls hair before I did their hair EVERYDAY! Since they get their baths at night, this is not happening. I have a rather large spray bottle and I am not kidding when I say that I fill it up every three days.
Spray around the hairline first. Then comb the water into the hair. I do this a couple of times. Then I take the gel and I use about the size of a nickel and I rub it in both of my hands and rub it into their hair, then I spray hairspray on it as well. Lots of product...good thing I buy the cheap stuff. I save my $$$ for good shampoo and conditioner for their hair. Heaven knows they need it.
I pull their hair into whatever concoction I have thought up that day...spraying with water as needed...and then after I am all done, I spray with hairspray again.
Their hair drys into the shape if I make sure it is wet first.
I should just note, it doesn't matter how nice you get their hair, the minute they put their heads in the carseat, it is static city.
But hey, you tried. Right?

Suddenly I see, this is what I want to be...
If only it was that easy. The job search has begun. I am nearly finished with my resume wrinting and I am completely overwhelmed by the job hunt process. It's like going to Walmart for groceries- so many options!!!
I have been looking at so many online postings that my eyes hurt. My computer is sick of seeing my face. Here's the view from my laptops end: (curtesy of my new computer's webcam)
Boo, job hunting is not good for my appearance.
Anyway, here are some options that I am considering.
I am looking into a New Student Programs job in Jackson, TN, a few Multicultural Affairs positions elsewhere in the country, and a Director of Student Ministries position with the International Justice Mission in washington, D.C.
I will be interviewing for positions (other than the ones above) in Boston in March so I need to get a few tailored resumes posted. Of course, honoring tradition- my resume will be posted on my door with a note, "Hire me, please!" until I am hired.
Please pray as I continue to try to to be faithful to my calling. I realy need to take the next week to limit my search nonnegotiables. Thus far my only requirements are the ability to live at a standard of living one notch above "graduate student" and still be able to agressively pay off my student loans. (Agressively=10 years, ha)
If you see any jobs that scream my name, quickly tell them to lower their voices, and pass them along to me.
