i'm that desperate...or am i?

Today I shall wash my clothes in the bathtub. I'm a little excited about it. I'll let you know how it goes.



UPDATE: just hung the last of my clothes up to dry and what an easy breezy task it is to wash clothes in the tub. This may have sparked a complete lifestyle change.

UPDATE 2: you can do a final soak with liquid fabric softener, but I just like to rub the dry clothes together to make them soft.

INTERACT: What do you do (to be green, save money, etc) that most people would think wack-a-doodle-weird? My list could go on and on...

Crafting Reusable Shopping bags & Free Giveaway

So since I've started "thirty things Thursday" I've had the opportunity to be stuck with the dilemma of what to do with all these t-shirts I have laying around. "To give away, or not to give away..." that is the question. And we all know what I do when I can't answer that question.... I CRAFT!!!!

So, I've solved a two fold delimma- I needed a reusable shopping bags for my groceries (for convienience, hipness, and comfort) and I needed to "keep" my t-shirts' memories alive. So I made shopping bags out of the t-shirts.

I brought one over to Lyndsy and Jonathan's super bowl Sunday as a gift for their new "greener" lifestyle. If you would like one of these bags for yourself, let me know. Great news!!! The Secret Life of Cell Phones

Check out this video on the secret life of cell phones and give me some feedback of what you think about this. I know you have at least two cell phones lying around.

I found two during "Thirty Things Thursday" and I plan on recycling them or donating them to an organization that gives them to battered women. If you have an old cell phone (working or not) I'll recycle it for you- just get it to me somehow.

The Daily Bite: It IS easy being green

Every once in a while, my inbox is blessed with the presence of the Ideal Bite, short and sassy emails about green living. Ideal Bite offers small ideas for "light" green living, so if you aren't interested in selling your car and buying a moter scooter or switching to washable feminine hygiene products just yet, this may be the site for you.

I really love the small changes that I have been able to make through these emails. Recently, I took a personal oath to bring my own travel mug to the coffee shop or at least ask for a "for here" mug. I'm currently working on knitting my own coozie, so that as a last resort, I at least can forgo the paper sleeve. Let me know if you need a knitted coozie of your own.

Another big-small difference I have chosen to make is to swear off plastic bags. I made my own shopper purse out of an old t-shirt (photos coming soon) that I take to the store to transport my goods.
