Only a couple of days left 'till the weekend begins

and I couldn't be more excited. I've had such a busy work and getting too little sleep and it shall be nice to relax. I hope that my thigh muscles will have healed by then since I've hardly been able to walk today. You see, I started this self defense course/training yesterday, and it was extremely exhausting, but hopefully it will result in something. I don't know about my legs though since I am going again tomorrow and then it might be just as bad on Friday as today... Oh well.

Oh, and I wanted to show you my new playsuit that I got in the mail yesterday. I was in a rush so I only managed to get one half descent picture.

I think this playsuit is going to be wonderful for winter since it has long sleeves and is made of wool. Plus, I adore the buttons on it!

Stylist preaches healthy hair and lifestyle to Chicago schoolgirls

Here are some of the key points from the article:

• For the last 10 years, Frances Simmons has been going into Chicago public schools on a mission to educate young African-American girls on the importance of healthy hair and a healthy lifestyle, and how the two can be interwoven into an even healthier self-esteem.
• For blacks, hair travails are deeply rooted in a sad history that too often has defined beauty by a white standard and divided locks into two camps: "good hair" or "bad hair"
• "You've got some mothers who are getting their kindergartners hair weaves or hair pieces," Simmons said. "It breaks your heart. All that weight on those tiny heads."
• In Illinois, stylists who braid aren't required to be licensed so training can be a crapshoot.
• We've been taught not to love our hair and not to love ourselves. Part of having healthy hair is accepting who we are and what we have."

What I really like about this article is that the information is coming from a stylist. Many times we try to share advice or tips we have learned, through reading and research, with our friends and family and the look at us like we don't know what we are talking about. So maybe the same information coming from a professional will open their eyes and ears.

City Farm Girl

My family and I live in the Bay Area, which is located in the Northern part of California. We got lucky, because when we moved, we found a great place that has a nice size back yard. My husband and my daughters work together with our neighbor to create a cool garden in our back yard. When the garden is in full bloom, we get tons of great veggies - squash, zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce and more. We also have 5 chickens, and get fresh eggs every morning.

With this, comes our pets that stay in our home. We have a lot of pets. Right now, we have 2 cats, 8 fish, and we are taking care of a friends snake. There are also deer in our neighborhood, if you can imagine that! So its no surprise to wake up and find a deer in your yard, just chillin'. But I love it all. I never thought in a million years, that I would have a little farm. I am a city girl at heart. But I have to admit, that this farm life is kinda cool... :-)

oh no, not another one

I have recently discovered needle felting. As if knitting, quilting, sewing, beading and occassional card making and embroidery weren't enough crafts to have in my life, I now have needle felting. And of course, I love it. I love that you can sit down with a little idea and go from roving and needle to finished product in one sitting. Quilting and knitting are not like that -- at least, not for me.

Miss Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks has been promoting the new season of her talk show, by saying she will be revealing her own natural hair, while hosting the show. I like Tyra. But I actually feel like she should have been doing this the whole time. She has been a great role model for young girls and women throughout her career. But a big part of being a role model is practicing what you preach. So for me, its like great... finally your going to show your real hair and do what you have been preaching "which is to love yourself for you. And to not live your life trying to impress others." So thumbs up to Tyra... I look forward to the new season of her show.

Guess whose hair is long enough to cornrow!!!

Yea me!!! It's a new day in hair growing for me. I know for a fact that my hair grows when cornrowed. For my first session, I put Doo Grow Stimulating Oil and Mega-Tek on my parts in between the braids. Okay, okay, so what I look like Coolio by the head... that's not the point. The point is, all the growth I have, since the BC in April.

On the Lace front (no pun intended.... okay, yes, it was, lol), I ran out of deep glow spray and all I had was medium glow, and lookie here, it looks more like my scalp than the deep glow. I still used the JR Blonde spray.

The hair is gorgeous. I sprayed Sun In over the top of it and it highlighted it beautifully. It looks so natural. I wanted to look fly in my DMV picture.


I loaded the application of this unit onto my YouTube channel. I love that I can load them there, and they show up here. I'm loving helping people through all the forums and the channel. It's very rewarding.

I am in love with a new skin product, that my sister recommended, by Juice Beauty. I have had problems with my skin for most of my life. My face has a combination of oily and dry skin.
